Mrs. Brookshire was born and raised in Sedan, Kansas. She was known as Mandy Floyd. She graduated in 1981 from Sedan High School. In 1986, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. After graduating, she moved to North Carolina because it was such a beautiful area.  She got married and had twins who are now all grown up. Last year Mrs. Brookshire got remarried. She and her husband decided to move back to her hometown from Asheville, North Carolina. She began her first teaching career in 1994. She has now been a teacher for 22 years.  Before moving back here to Sedan, she taught 4th grade and 2nd grade. Mrs. Brookshire’s nature is to help people.  When a child comprehends a new skill and she sees the light bulb illuminate in his or her brain, she knows that she made the right choice to become a teacher. The one thing even more important than academics is the ability for a child to learn positive social skills.  When she sees her students acting like good citizens, it makes her proud of the ethics that she is instilling in them!  Welcome to Sedan Elementary, Mrs. Amanda Brookshire!

Mrs. Campbell is a second grade teacher at Sedan Elementary. She was the baby of her family. Her parents and 2 brothers still live in Asbury, Missouri. She moved here from Asbury to teach. She used to teach in Lamar, Missouri. Mrs. Campbell has been teaching for four years after she graduated from Pittsburg State University for both of her degrees, bachelor and masters. She knew she wanted to be a teacher when she was in fourth grade. She had a horrible time with multiplication tables but her teacher never gave up on her. She was so supportive. Having that kind of a person in her life made her want to be that for other people! Mrs. Campbell teaches second grade. She chose that grade because, “Second graders are AWESOME! (All grades are for different reasons)  Second graders have such a great outlook on things and they always keep me on my toes!” she said. One thing that makes her most proud of her students, is when her students act responsibly and are respectful to people.   It makes her so proud! She told me “On Grandparent’s Day I had students offering their chair to their grandparents and waiting hand and foot on them. It was definitely a proud teacher moment and the grandparents enjoyed it too!” Welcome to Sedan Elementary Mrs. Campbell!
